Kindergarten!

How was this post missed? Not certain, but A started school!  Full-day Kindergarten and uniforms and LOVES it!

She has classes like art, spanish & music as well as the typical math and reading. It's great to have her learning so much! She excitedly comes home telling everyone her new sight words and throwing in vocabulary words that she's learned.  Her favorite new word is fleet - mom & dad like it too: see how fleet you can be getting ready for bed (school, etc etc). And thanks to alternating hot lunches in her palate has expanded a bit. Though mom misses not having her around much anymore - she's a great helper when she is home!

The Way the Baby Rides

G-ma Lewis does the This is the Way....baby rides.....mommy rides....daddy rides on her knees for A & B. It's been quite awhile, say last summer since she did it with them. Then out of the blue A has E on her lap bouncing her legs and singing the song! And then at the end makes sure she falls down. E loves it!

Cast is Off!

A got her second cast off all by herself! Slipped it right off - she said it was "scratchy." Dad helped her put it back on and 3 days later we went to the Doctor to let him do it - not because we needed the cast off (we managed that part for free) but to make sure it was healed. It's still not "straight" but healed enough....she has one more follow up and then it should be good as new!

Radius & Ulna

A still likes her cast! She likes to tell everyone which bones she broke when they ask about it. She got to trade in her yellow one for a smaller purple one last week. And since there was extra purple wrap the nurse made a cast for her puppy! Needless to say it was a big hit with A! She's been anxious to get people to sign it again too, but a sharpie isn't always available.
The first cast was 3 weeks, it's healing well, but it was presumed she wouldn't be cautious enough with a splint it was casted for the last 2 weeks. In the meantime she's easily adapted to writing & coloring with her left hand - looks just as good! Once the cast is off we'll see if she goes back to her right hand or becomes ambidextrious!

I Broke 2 Bones

Yes, she's quite proud to announce that she broke 2 bones. Fell down the stairs, no really! Taking down the kiddie gate like she's done on numerous occassions before, but this time lost her balance and tumbled down. With a few whines and complaints that she'd fallen down she came to mom for sympathy and kisses better. But as soon as mom saw the "bend" in the arm she couldn't believe it.....that it was really broken and that A was so calm considering!
A while back a little friend Caleb broke his leg, so since then A & B like to come complaining because they fell down saying they broke a bone.......This time when she said it, mom could say, yes you did!
It must have helped because now she thinks it's really cool that she has a cast and gets to do everything one-handed/armed. Thank goodness! It's been 2 weeks now (news delayed - busy times) and she's still really proud to sport the bright yellow cast (her choosing)!
To top it off as she went to get the actual cast (temporary splint pictured above) the Dr said she'd actually already previously broken her bones in the exact same spot and that day had re-broken them as they were healing! Mom & dad are now questioning their judgement when they don't really complain that it must be okay....... high tolerance of pain?
Later when she drove past the hospital she announced, "that's where my cast was born!" Yes it was an ER visit - though realized afterward not necessary - things learned with experience, right?

No Training Wheels!

A has been asking all summer for Daddy to take her training wheels off....so he did....and she rode her bike! Towards the end of the first night she began to get nervous with the starting and stopping and the bike not staying up on it's own. So she now takes comfort in B's bike which still has training wheels despite his zeal to follow in suit of his older sister. Maybe B's bike will dissapper for awhile.....

Soccer Mom?

How is it done? A barely made the cut off with her birthday to be able to play this year. T volunteered to assist coach = head coach since no one else volunteered. Hence J filled the role of team manager though neither knew what they were doing. But by the end of the 6 weeks it was evident kids and parents were having fun. Thank goodness for the mascot - he helped entertain several younger brothers. Go Polar Cubs!

There were some video clips taken....T is responsible to upload those

Ears Burping

This is how A described her ears today, ears burping. That along with some puffy eyes led to a Doctor's visit. A first for them to hear an ear ache described as such - guess she didn't know how else to describe it. Her first ever diagnosed sickness! Sure the runny nose, fever and cough stuff has come and gone with winter seasons. But this is the first diagnosis and prescription. She actually seemed pretty excited about the whole visit and being classified as sick and needing medicine = go figure! Just before she turns 4 years old, can't complain! A middle ear infection with conjunctivitis. Hopefully her recent playdate wasn't an unsuspecting contagious one...apologies if it turns out to be.
