Entering the Race

Taylor finally makes the front page! Saturday morning was the big day. He entered the Steamboat Classic 4 mile race in Peoria. It was a huge event (over 2000 competitors) that even included a couple people training for this year's olympics. While it was his first race since...high school? he finished in the top quarter, averaging just under 8 minute miles. With the little RFID tag (radio frequency identification) that each runner was issued tracked the exact start & finish as well as each mile marker along the way. Abie enjoyed clapping & cheering for the racers as we observed the event from the side line. Taylor admitted afterwards that he was the loudest person crossing the finish line & really pushed himself. But then it was nearly 90 degrees by the time he finished at 7:30 am!
